On the eve of their home-and-home weekend with the Penticton Vees, the Westside Warriors have added one of the top forwards in the BCHL, Clinton Pettapiece.
If there was a knock on the Warriors, perhaps it was their lack of a true ‘game-breaker’ upfront, but Pettapiece certainly has the capability to fill that role. The Christina Lake, BC native has 66 points in 42 games and currently sits in 5th place in league scoring. 15 of Pettapiece’s 25 goals have come on the power-play and he has 6 game winners too.
For all the talent the Warriors gain ‘on the ice’ with the addition of Pettapiece, they do assume some risk ‘off the ice’ as Pettapiece has a reputation of being a less than fantastic teammate. The Warriors have had such a team based attack that Pettapiece could concievably rock the boat if the team hits the skids.
The Cowichan Valley Capitals recieve Alex Gellert and ‘future considerations’ for Pettapiece, while the Warriors have moved F Chris Shudo to Melville of the SJHL to open up a 20-year-old slot on the roster.
The Vees and Warriors square off at 7 tonight. The Pre-game show starts at 6:30 on EZ Rock AM 800 in Penticton and on the BCHL Website in the Fanzone.
