Vees Fred Page Cup Update

News and Notes from the past few days
- Clips blame rink: The Nanaimo coaching staff has gone out of their way to mention how difficult it was to play on the smaller playing surface in Penticton Memorial Arena. If they are trying to fire up their troops for Games 3 & 4 at home, this may work, but consider that the Clippers will have to win in Penticton to advance, and this may not be such a shrewd move.
- BCHL Exposure: Dan Marshall (Clippers Play-by-Play) and I were interviewed in tandem, by Rick Quinton on CKNW News Talk 980 (Radio) in Vancouver on Sunday Night. It was great to get the buzz about the Fred Page Cup over the airwaves in the Lower Mainland. I’ll be posting the audio shortly.
- Coastal Renaissance Underway: With the 2010 Olympics less than 2 years away, BC Ferries have launched their first few brand spanking new ships that will be taking over on many of the main routes in the Province. Nobody on the Penticton Vees was more excited than 18 year Equipment Manager Murray Maxwell about setting sail on the new ‘Coastal Renaissance’ - which was beautiful and more spacious than older members of the fleet.
- Ice and Rain: Tonight’s broadcast starts at 7:00 with puck drop at 7:30 on EZ Rock. The boys had a morning skate and have been resting in the hotel on this rainy day in Nanaimo.
