With the Vees enjoying an early bye week in the season, as the S.O.E.C. nears completion, here’s a look at the best the BCHL has to offer this weekend.
Vernon @ Westside - A home win from the Warriors would be their first BIG win of the season, while a Vernon ‘W’ would add fuel to the early season hype.
Cowichan @ Nanaimo - A season opening visit to last year’s Coastal Champs is all the buzz in Cowichan where expectations are high in a competitive Island Division.
Victoria @ Alberni Valley - The Bulldogs open their season at home with stiff test. This is what we call a measuring stick!
Burnaby @ Langley - BCHL GAME OF THE WEEK
Victoria @ Langley - This may be the Best of the Lower Mainland against the Best of the Island.
Prince George @ Vernon - First big test for the Spruce Kings who embarrassed Merritt last weekend.
Westside @ Trail - Can the Smoke Eaters continue their momentum at home as the Warriors venture East to the Kootenays
Nanaimo @ Cowichan - Round Two in Duncan. I love the second of home-and-homes. Things tend to get nasty.
If you are needing your hockey fix this weekend, be sure to cruise over to the BCHL Fanzone to listen to each and every game.

It’s time for the first of many Interior Conference Power Rankings, where I boldly rank the teams of the BCHL Interior Conference.
Not a ton of data to mine for week one rankings, but what the heck!
1. Vernon Vipers (1-0-0-1) - Over a dozen returning players, and 3 of 4 points against Salmon Arm. Interior Favorites?
2. Penticton Vees (1-0-0-1)- 3 of a possible 4 points on the road. Continued dominance over Westside.
3. Prince George Spruce Kings (2-0-0-0) - Close to perfect thus far, but that was Merritt (twice). Improved to be sure!
4. Salmon Arm Silverbacks (1-1-0-0) - Came back big to saw off a weekend with Vernon.
5. Trail Smoke Eaters (1-0-0-0) - Showed poise in beating Penticton home opener in Double OT. Ingram’s team now!
6. Westside Warriors (1-1-0-0) - played a pair of one-goal-games. needed comeback to beat Quesnel.
7. Quesnel Millionaires (0-1-0-0) - Just one game played. Look to be more competitive this year.
8. Merritt Centennials (0-2-0-0) - Yikes! That wasn’t the start they wanted. Is PG that good or they that bad??
