Garrett Milan’s strong play as a rookie has landed him a scholarship to St. Cloud State University. The Vees announced today that the pint sized forward - who is tied for the team lead with 25 points on the season - has committed to the Huskies for the 2010-2011 season.
17-year-old Milan was a standout in Major Midget last season with the Vancouver Giants, and was named a first team all-star at the Mac’s Midget tournament in Calgary last Winter. In this his first season of Jr. ‘A’ Milan has found the back of the net 11 times, 3 of those on the Power Play, and 2 standing as Game Winning Goals.
Garrett likely was very comfy with the St. Cloud Hockey Program as Vees Head Coach and GM Fred Harbinson was an assistant coach at St. Cloud for 5 seasons before moving to Penticton. St. Cloud is about 100 km NW of the twin cities in Minnesota.
The Vees now have 7 players committed to NCAA programs, with Sean Bonar likely to make his final decision soon, that number will jump to 8. The Vees lead the BCHL in college commitments.
