Vernon Fashion Update: Blonde Mohawks in for Spring!?

March 7th, 2009 · No Comments

What would you do with nearly two weeks between the games?

As you can see, the Vipers got hair cuts!

There’s no issue if they keep winning, but that sure isn’t golf club hair!

Well there have been worse hairdos…

CSI: VERNON

I’m not a big follower of TV shows, but I hear CSI is quite popular… lets do our best CSI work on last night’s OT tip in from Garrett Milan.

Here’s the evidence… Is this is high stick? It’s what Vees and (especially) Vipers fans are talking about today.

The problem is that we live in a world with 3 dimensions (some say more), while this photo has just 2 dimensions.

Here’s what we know:

The photo is isn’t perfectly clear whether Milan has tipped the puck yet or not.

The video camera is located 3 or 4 stories higher than ice level, not at the height of the crossbar.

Andrew Hammond is bracing for a puck at about his shoulder height.

We don’t know how far Milan’s stick is in front of him, versus to his left side… again the angle is from way above (here’s a mediocre shot of the press box).

The only thing we can draw from the photo is that it was certainly a close close call. This isn’t irrefutable evidence.

GAME 2 NOTES

Rob Short will be back in the line-up for the Vipers after serving a 3 game suspension that has carried over from the regular season. It’s the 2nd year in a row that Short has missed playoff time due to suspension. Last season he was the accused party in a stomping incident on Curtis McKenzie’s leg. More than just an agitator, Short led the Vipers in scoring in their regular season series with 4 goals.

***CORRECTION*** Short’s suspension (resulting from a match-penalty) was overturned last season by the league and he didn’t miss playoff time.

Expect Fred Harbinson to go back to rookie net-minder Sean Bonar for tonight’s game. The 17-year-old was spectacular at times and couldn’t be blamed for any of the three goals against. Jordan White may be on the outside looking in, but one gets the sense we’ll see him at some point in this best-of-seven.

Tonight’s Game will be the Vees 7th game in 9 nights. The Vipers had 11 days between the regular season and Game 1.
